AHMED IDRIS
PRESIDENT & CHAIRMAN OF COUNCIL

Ahmed Idris is the President and Chairman of Council of the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management (CITM) and the former Accountant-General of the Federation of Nigeria. A seasoned public finance professional, he holds degrees from Ahmadu Bello University and Bayero University Kano, with extensive experience across the private sector, federal ministries, and treasury administration.
Appointed Accountant-General in 2015 and reappointed in 2019, Idris oversaw major public-finance reforms including the widespread implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA), expansion of IPPIS, and transition to IPSAS-compliant accounting systems. His tenure focused on strengthening transparency, fiscal discipline, and modernising Nigeria’s public financial management infrastructure.
As President of CITM, he leads efforts to professionalise treasury management and develop a highly skilled cadre of treasury practitioners aligned with global standards. His career, however, has also included legal controversies related to financial misconduct allegations during his time as AGF.
Overall, Ahmed Idris is recognised for his extensive contributions to treasury reform, professional development, and public-sector financial management in Nigeria.
